The Toronto trumpeter came here from New Orleans, plays regularly in the Distillery District, and was described by late horn great Doc Cheatham as delivering "the best trumpet playing I have ever heard." Clark's good here, with confident, fault-free technique and great tone on 14 short tunes with pianist Peter Hill, drums Chris Lamont and, unusually, B3 organist Denis Keldie. The pop-heavy repertoire ranges from Nawlins pieces like "Java" to "The Girl From Ipanema," jazz classics like "Sidewinder" to "Theme From Spiderman."
